Forest Times, is a new publication by Uriel Orlow. It is catalogue for Orlow’s exhibition at the Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne, explores the role of plants as witnesses to the past and guides to the future. We design the book as a compact, portable object with a fluorescent, holographic cover, borrowing from the world of science fiction novels.
The catalogue brings together the projects Reading Wood (Backwards) and Forest Futurism, where Orlow explores plant life beyond human history, linking tree fossils and the future of forests.
With its format and the artist’s images transformed by color, the book breaks away from traditional catalogues. The projects are sequences with different papers, whose transparencies and textures allow the works it illustrates to be told in a different way.
